Volunteers assist James House staff members in providing advocacy services and maintaining our crisis hotline. Volunteers also serve in special areas of interest such as , organizing our donation center and assisting with special one-time projects such as delivering furniture to clients or organizing fundraisers and special events.
With a small staff of advocates, we serve over 1,600 people in crisis each year. This would not be possible without help from our great community volunteers who have a passion for our mission. Regardless of age, education level, or beliefs, there is something for everyone to do at James House.

Volunteer training is offered 2 times per year. This extensive, interactive, pre-service instruction provides trainees with a wide variety of learning experiences revolving around family and sexual violence, crisis intervention, and helping skills.

We are currently seeking groups that are interested in group projects.
